What is a Gong Bath?

"Gong bath" or “sound bath” does not involve any water and is undertaken fully clothed. These terms are often used because many people describe the experience of being “bathed” in the sounds during these sessions. For both one-to-one and group Gong Baths, you will typically lie down on a soft bed on the floor, and simply rest, listening to the sounds around you. Some people prefer to sit up for the sound sessions, which is fine.

Sometimes it takes a truly profound experience to make you love something with an infinite passion. And sometimes, life and one’s own emotional well-being need to be at an all time low, to fully appreciate the sheer power behind that experience.

So it was for Debbie, the Founder of The Sound of Peace…every day felt like an endless torturous struggle, until an unexpected introduction to Gongs became a dramatic and transformative turning point in her life. The gentle healing sound of the gongs brought her a deep sense of enduring peace. Peace beyond anything she had ever experienced. It was in that moment, that the concepts behind The Sound of Peace was born.

Training with world renowned Gong tutors, a series of extraordinary and quite miraculous events culminated in her love of a very special, meditative and magical sound…the sound of unique and healing instruments…instruments  that are shifting and unlocking the way people perceive the world, their lives and even the way they think and feel.

Debbie's submersion into sound healing together with her love of people and music has been a natural progression. With over two decades of dedicated service in the field of mental health and trauma, Debbie’s combination of experiences have not only opened her heart and her life but also the hearts and lives of the many people with whom she has had the pleasure to work.

Training & qualifications

Gongmaster training with Don Conreaux and Aidan McIntyre in 2018:

Don Conreaux has been a guru of gong training since 1969, drawing students from as far as Canada, Poland, and Dubai to his courses. Don's journey to becoming a gong master began in the 1960s during his yoga training with luminaries like Paramahansa Yogananda and Yogi Bhajan, the master of Kundalini yoga.

Don's profound exploration into the transformative power of the gong led to the creation of numerous practices, including Gong Yoga of Holistic Resonance, Gong Therapy, Gong Bath, and Gong Master Training (GMT). These are the culmination of a lifetime's dedication to sound, healing, and spirituality.

In 1992, Aidan had a profound encounter with the gong that marked the beginning of a life-altering journey. Since that transformative moment, he has dedicated his life to sharing his insights and research with the world, making the healing power of the gong and singing bowls his life's mission.

His friendship with Don Conreaux, began at the same time and they have been close friends and collaborators ever since. Aidan's explorations also led him to the world of singing bowls, which complemented his work with the gong. Living in the San Francisco Bay Area, he honed his skills and delved into the therapeutic effects of sound.

Don and Aidan jointly developed the Gong Master Training Course, which was established in the UK and has now successfully completed its 26th year as of 2021. They have extended this training internationally, delivering it in Europe, Asia, North and South America, as well as Australia. The UK edition of the course presents a unique chance for participants to receive training directly from both Don and Aidan, who collaborate as instructors.
